Maggie Reynolds – Kuna FFA Reporter
Fourteen Kuna FFA members traveled to Washington D.C. June 27th for a week. These members got the opportunity to participate in the FFA Washington Leadership Conference and tour national monuments and memorials. Kuna members also had the chance to meet other FFA members from all over the country.
The Washington Leadership Conference is a week long conference designed to help FFA members learn new leadership skills and assess how purposeful their life is. The conference focuses on the highest form of leadership, service to others. Members practiced making a “Living to Serve” plan, which mapped out how each member would personally make an impact on their world once they returned home. FFA’ers also participated in a service project while at the conference, which included packaging meals, helping Habitat for Humanity, helping at an animal shelter, and cleaning up a wildlife reserve.
While in Washington D.C., Kuna FFA members were able to tour many national sites, including the Holocaust Museum, the National Mall, some Smithsonian museums, the National Archives, the Library of Congress, as well as others.
Kuna FFA was able to send so many members because of money donated through the Scholarship Auction and other fundraisers. The chapter also received money from Meridian Farm Bureau to help cover travel costs. Kuna members are excited to apply the skills and concepts they learned to our chapter this year.
