Parent Appreciation Night
March 14, 2011
6:30p.m.
Parents have a significant influence on the success of the Kuna FFA Chapter. In appreciation for their generous support, parents and families are invited to join us for an evening of dinner and workshops. The workshops this year are scheduled to be flower arranging, Dutch oven cooking, and a landscaping presentation by Zamzow’s. We will also raffle off a Dutch oven cooking table. This is a casual event, and official dress is not required for FFA members. A pork dinner will be served from 6:30-7:00, followed by the workshops.
State Leadership Conference
April 6-9, 2011
Twin Falls
Students who want to attend the State Leadership Conference must submit their applications by March 18, 2011. The application, along with the permission form and code of ethics, can be found at https://kunaffa.org/formsapplications/. State Leadership Conference is an opportunity for students to experience leadership on the State level and experience opportunities for personal success in the FFA. Students will have the chance to hear keynote speeches from talented presenters and national FFA officers; participate in leadership workshops; hone their skills in their respective CDE’s; and make lifelong friendships and connections with fellow FFA members and members of industry that will be beneficial to their growth in the FFA. SLC is a place for students to reach their ultimate potential and have experiences away from home that are impactful and worthwhile, all while having the time of their lives!
Fairs
Students who plan to show animals at the fair need to notify the advisors as soon as possible. Information about both the Canyon County and Western Idaho Fairs can be found on our website at https://kunaffa.org/fairs/. Use the field on the website to send an email to the advisors letting them know the species and the fair at which you will be showing. Market animal weigh-in dates and Country Of Origin Labeling (COOL) forms are posted there.
Simplot Partners with Idaho FFA
You can help raise money for the Idaho FFA Foundation by liking Simplot Careers on Facebook!
There are some exciting partnerships and events happening with Idaho FFA this year. J.R. Simplot Company, Idaho’s largest agribusiness company, loves Idaho FFA. To show their love for our members, Simplot has decided to donate $1 for every ‘like’ their Simplot Careers Facebook page receives until SLC in April! THIS IS A BIG DEAL! Simplot will donate up to $10,000 to the Idaho FFA Foundation, which provides scholarships and funds that go directly to Idaho FFA members. However, this can only be possible with your help: logon to Facebook and ‘like’ Simplot Career’s page. Invite your friends to do the same; you will develop connections with this great company and support our fantastic organization. We’re very excited about the partnership Simplot has with Idaho FFA and we look forward to seeing how many ‘likes’ their page will receive over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes open on Facebook for contests and events with Simplot Careers!

Idaho FFA chapters are selling tickets for the 1st Annual Statewide Tractor Raffle! A beautifully restored 1940 International Farmall H with tricycle front and a 25 gallon 12-volt sprayer will be raffled off at State Leadership Conference in April. Tickets are being sold for $10 and every Idaho FFA chapter has 60 tickets to sell. If all 86 Idaho chapters sell their tickets, this special event will raise $51,000 for Idaho FFA members! You can purchase your tickets from any local FFA chapter or the State FFA Officer team. Contact Katy Szatkowski or a Kuna chapter advisor for more information.
