The Kuna FFA is ready to kick off another great year after their 2011 Chapter Banquet was held April, 25th. During the night, awards were presented and recognition given out for achievements throughout the year. The chapter also presented more than $15,000 in scholarships and installed new officers for the 2011-2012 year.

The chapter was happy to start the night by presenting Greenhand awards. The Greenhand Scholarship award was given to all active freshman members with a 4.0 GPA. Although this is not a monetary award, the chapter recognized Nate Kessel, Camille Werner, Brogan Moore, and Andrea Johnson for their hard work and dedication to both FFA and school. The Greenhand Leadership Award was presented to Brogan Moore, Linda Zantman, Kayla Simper, Dustin Zabel, Cassie Curtis, Spencer Hukill, Caitlyn Shankel, and Kameron Wartman for being active throughout their first year in FFA. Congratulations to all our Greenhands!

Members with the best SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects received chapter Proficiency awards for excellence in their SAE area.  The following members won Proficiency awards in the following areas:

  • Mark Nebeker: Forage Production
  • Aaron Emmert: Diversified Crop Production
  • Kim Ware: Sheep Production
  • Heather Skovgard: Dairy Production and Diversified Livestock
  • Marcy Winger: Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management
  • Amanda Reynolds: Diversified Agricultural Production
  • Zachary Reynolds: Beef Production Placement
  • Mackenzie Peace: Beef Production Entrepreneurship
  • Chelsea Dye: Equine Science
  • Autumn Ellis: Poultry Production
  • Brett Blackstock: Swine Production
  • Jeni Hagler: Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Kaisa Werner: Prepared Public Speaking
  • Andrea Johnson: Creed Speaking

Star Chapter awards were given to Kayla Simper-Star Chapter Greenhand, Zachary Reynolds-Star Chapter Farmer, Samantha Roberts-Star Chapter Agri-Business, and Amanda Reynolds-Chapter Star in Ag Placement.

The Chapter Workhorse award is given to members who are not officers, yet are always hard at work, helping make sure events run smoothly and things get done. This award was presented to Kayla Wartman and Mark Nebeker.

The Kuna FFA Chapter was proud to present its 2011 Distinguished Service Award to Sandy Bell. Mrs. Bell is on the Advisory Council and is also the high school’s bookkeeper. She constantly supports the chapter by helping with the Scholarship Auction and taking money from FFA members for trips. We appreciate everything you do, Mrs. Bell!

To end the night, the chapter installed new officers. The 2011-2012 Kuna FFA Chapter President is Chris Ball. Other officers are:

  •  Parliamentarian- Zachary Reynolds.
