Twenty Kuna FFA members attended the ICC (Idaho Cooperative Council)/ FFA Cenarrusa Day on the Hill on January 26th. They started out with a tour of the newly refurbished Capitol Building, where they met several Senators and Representatives in the halls. The group was also able to have a personal meeting with Senator Russ Fulcher, where they discussed the role played by the media in government and current issues like the state budget. After touring the capital, the students went to the Red Lion Hotel for a lunch with state officials. Members learned about current issues and duties of the officials from their district. Following lunch, the state FFA officers presented two elected officials Honorary State Degrees during a special ceremony.

January has brought a new semester along with a new set of activities for the Kuna FFA Chapter. On January 22nd, Brittany Ratliff, Mark Nebeker and Amanda Reynolds represented the Kuna Chapter well at the Ada County Farm Bureau Public Speaking Contest. The Farm Bureau organized this event to give FFA members the opportunity to learn valuable speaking skills on topics ranging from Cap and Trade, to Cooperative Extension and You, to ‘Beet the Weeds’ (Roundup Ready Sugar Beets). Brittany placed second at the county level and third on the district level.
